In recent years, the air cargo market in Vietnam has experienced remarkable progress. The development of aviation has made a great contribution to connect the economic sectors of the world. The supply chain of the Vietnam aviation industry contributes approximately USD 3 billion in gross domestic product. The airlines of Vietnam fly mainly to Asia-Pacific and Europe, but there is no fly directly to North America.
Total cargo through Vietnam Airlines in 2016 is 1.1 million tons and is expected to increase to 1.4 million tons by 2017. By 2020, production is expected to reach 2.5 million tons.
Currently, Vietnam has 157 aircraft and 28 helicopters. In the period 2017-2020, Vietnam’s fleet will add 93 aircraft, increasing the number of aircraft to 242 by 2020.
